These images feel like an extended field of the healing and ritual aspects that are hard to describe yet so deeply felt in Blue Pieta’s work. I ordered Mother Heart. Why? I am a mother, and hope to integrate the “healing codes” of this painting, received as I gaze at the print. I’m going to use Mother Heart (the A3 print) as an altar board, a way to hold space for myself as a mother supporting a son who is going through many transitions right now. Sometimes, D.W. Winnicott alone isn’t going to cut it! Sometimes, energetic support is required, in ways that by-pass the cognitive modes. Mother Heart is so immediate and nourishing. It goes right into me. Art can be medicine, yes. Not always, of course. But in this case, yes. I feel it. As Blue Pieta writes, “I want you to heal with me.” Yes, that invitation is palpable, generous and real. My experience is that gazing at these images snaps the logics between images, releasing light I can breathe in.
